The Art Of Silliness Poem

By Sue Ellson

Let me be silly
I want to be ridiculous
We all know that life has become
Way too serious

Computers and systems are taking over our lives
Silliness allows us humans to survive
A silly smile, a silly face
They give us the chance to make fun of space

It is so easy to get caught up in our regular ways
But a silly attitude can help you get through the days
A little bit of fun is the spice of life
Make it a little silly and it is twice as nice

Do a funny walk or skip with glee
Start to whistle or hug a tree
Remember that life is not all glum
It can be an awful lot of silly fun!

Stop worrying about what others think
That’s their problem not yours, don’t even blink
Let silliness back into your life today
The world needs you to be silly in your own way

The concept for ‘The Art of Silliness’ came about quite by coincidence. Jacquie Wise is a long term client and she had a book on her shelf called ‘The Art of Stillness.’ I saw it out of the corner of my eye and read it as ‘The Art of Silliness’ and thought it was an excellent book title! So I decided to write a poem instead.

I wrote this at a silly time too! I was at my very first book signing at Dymocks in Rundle Mall, Adelaide on 21 April 2016 after my official book launch for ‘120 Ways To Achieve Your Purpose With LinkedIn’ on 23 February 2016. I had a few spare moments and put this together. Rather fun to write a poem in a book store!
