Should you delete your LinkedIn Profile when you retire?

By Sue Ellson

LINKEDIN AT RETIREMENT // Should you delete your LinkedIn profile when you retire?🤔 I would say no.

But what I would suggest that you do is go into the back end, Settings, Data Privacy, Get a copy of your data, Request the full archive, as soon as you get the e-mail, click on the link, download all the files, and you may see some connections in there that you’d like to reconnect with.

Secondly, I’d suggest that you change your headline and change it to retired and only interested in family 🌲tree inquiries, just in case Uncle Arthur is trying to find you!

Thirdly, I would suggest that you visit your LinkedIn profile and choose edit public profile URL and in there you can turn your public profile visibility off just to make you a little less visible or you

Fourthly, go into Settings and choose Hibernate your account and that way no one will see you at all.

Please wait at least 12 months before fully closing your account just in case you decide to reignite LinkedIn with a passion project.
