International Women’s Day GFM Wealth Advisory High Tea at The Hotel Windsor

HIGH TEA // Today I was invited to an International Women’s Day High Tea at The Hotel Windsor as a guest of Yvonne Junor and GFM Wealth Advisory and Rebecca Maddern, TV Presenter from the Channel 7 was the guest speaker.

It was a fabulous event – nourishing, friendly and insightful.

Rebecca made some interesting points about being a woman in the world of work:
✅ you need to have a good reputation wherever you go
✅ workplaces are a ‘team sport’ – make suggestions but be respectful
✅ there is still a difference between males and females at work
✅ in Australia, we are more fortunate than many other women worldwide
✅ put a team in place to support your goals (a 60 year old nanny works!)
✅ acknowledge your family, friends and other supporters along the way

I really valued the ‘team sport’ analogy. I have been working ‘solo’ for such a long time it is easy to forget that this IS an option and it DOES work!

I also asked Rebecca after the presentation about the impact of technology on broadcasting and the deep fakes are making news gathering very difficult.

I also had a chance to catch up with Mai Davies and we had previously worked together back in 2011!
