Spirit’s Voice Poem

By Sue Ellson

You know the truth
You know the way
You’ve seen my hand
You’ll be okay

You have suffered
Long enough
I know your pain
It has been tough

But I am here
To remind you now
Life is good
You’ll see somehow

Maybe it will take
A little while yet
But I am here
Do not forget

You do not need
To fight alone
Or find a way
To do it on your own

To truly be
I invite you to listen
My voice you’ll hear
In any prison

So release the rage
Of trapped emotions
Prepare to sail
On any oceans

The waves will come
And you will rise
You will cope
With any size

And when you rest
Upon the shore
You’ll have the strength
For all the more

For spirit’s voice
Is always here for you
Providing calm comfort
For all that you do

On a recent ‘one-day-sabbatical‘ to Bendigo, I sat in the cathedral and allowed ‘spirit’s voice’ to reach me. I cannot tell you where that ‘voice’ comes from or what it is. If it is ‘God’ or my conscious thought.

But like most human beings, I do have a sense that there is something bigger and grander than me beyond what I can perceive in physical reality.

In moments of reflection (and usually, relaxation), I have a sense of hearing this ‘spirit’s voice’ and a sensation of peace from the ‘words’ that I ‘hear.’

Yes, I was sitting in a Catholic Church when I wrote this, but it is not based on any specific faith, religion or belief system and it doesn’t require you to have any particular perspective either. I imagine some people would perceive this spirit’s voice to be their ‘subconscious’ mind.

I hope it brings you comfort. With love, Sue Ellson 🙂
