LINKEDIN BACKUP // Do you know how to back up your LinkedIn Profile and Data? 🤔

As I say in my ⭐LinkedIn for me book📘, to back up your Profile, you visit your own LinkedIn Profile, click on the More or Resources button and choose Save to PDF.

Now that doesn’t copy everything.

You’ll still need to copy and paste the items that are not included in that PDF into your own document.

To back up your Data, visit Settings, Data Privacy, Get a copy of your data and Download the larger data archive and request that archive.

Now, LinkedIn will send you an 📩e-mail with the link.

Click on the 🔗Link.

Download the files as soon as you get it because the link does expire.

➡️ Also, before you download your LinkedIn Profile, you may like to change your internet browser settings to ask where to save each file before downloading so that you can rename and save the file somewhere safe rather than just have a file in your downloads called “Profile.”

I recommend the naming policy YYYYMMDD-FirstName-LastName-LinkedIn-Profile.pdf so that by looking at the filename, you can remember when you downloaded it and whose LinkedIn Profile you downloaded (as you can do this step from any LinkedIn Profile you visit). Putting the date in reverse order will sort all of your downloads into date order in your device 📁folder.

➡️ Also, once you download your full data archive, you may like to scroll through your list of Connections and reconnect with someone with a direct message.

Alternatively, you could reach out to some other people you remember who you are not connected with you on LinkedIn right now and send them an invitation to connect with you on LinkedIn. Remember, your network improves your net worth.

➡️ If you are in business, you may like to make sure everyone in your customer relationship management system (CRM) is connected with you on LinkedIn and everyone you are connected with on LinkedIn has been considered for inclusion in your CRM.

✅ Let me know if you would like some help to professionally update your LinkedIn Profile or strategy before the end of the year.

4.2 Before You Start, Backup Your LinkedIn Data First

I would like to encourage you to take a backup of your LinkedIn Profile
before you start modifying it and I would like to encourage you to take
regular backups of your LinkedIn data from now on. There are two main
ways to do this.

1. Save your LinkedIn Profile content to a PDF every time before and after you update your LinkedIn Profile. You can do this via the More button on your own LinkedIn Profile. Make sure your internet browser settings are changed to ‘Ask where to save files before downloading’ so that you can save your file with today’s date back to front, your name and ‘LinkedIn Profile’ in the file name e.g. YYYY-MM-DD-sue-ellson-LinkedIn-profile.pdf. This makes it easy to identify when you last completed this task just by looking at the file name. You can also visit anyone else’s LinkedIn Profile and save it to PDF as well and ‘borrow ideas’ for use in your LinkedIn Profile. Please don’t print out a LinkedIn Profile on paper unless absolutely necessary – for example, you would need a lot of paper to print out my LinkedIn Profile!

By manually requesting a copy of your LinkedIn data in the settings https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/member-data. LinkedIn will send you an email with a link and you need to download the files immediately. I recommend that you do this at least every six months. In the unlikely event that your LinkedIn Profile is lost or deleted, this way you will have some record of your online network. Look for the file called ‘Inferences about you.’ This explains what LinkedIn has inferred about you
based on your profile and activity on LinkedIn and can make interesting reading.
