Details: This event was specifically designed for Early Career Researchers ECRs, Postgraduate Students and PhD Students and Academics who are keen to have their publications shared to a wider audience.
The presentation began with a story of my own personal research journey – my first survey of 96 people who moved to Melbourne within the last five years in 1999 that led to the launch of NewcomersNetwork.com in 2001 and the second survey of 541 people worldwide in 2004 that led to the publication of the Newcomers Kit that has been downloaded worldwide by many individuals and organisations including the US Consul General in Dakar and the World Bank in USA.
I also shared how being published on the Daily Mail website led to being found by the television producers at Channel 9’s Today Extra program and I have now appeared 13 times on the show since September 2022.
My goal is to be read rather than just published – and I search engine optimise as much of my content as possible. Only one participant had their own name website and I encouraged all participants to consider creating their own name website, or at least reserving the domain name, as soon as possible.
