What statistics can you collect on LinkedIn?

By Sue Ellson

LINKEDIN STATISTICS // What statistics can you collect on LinkedIn?🤔I recommend that my students and clients write these numbers down because they’re real time stats only and they’re likely to change.

So if you’re doing some updates to your LinkedIn profile, you can see how it has impacted your actual statistics.

So they’re all in my 📘’LinkedIn for me and my career or business’ book.

➡️ The first one is the number of Connections, so aim to have a minimum of 60 go up to 500 or a maximum of 30,000.

➡️ Number of Followers more than your number of Connections.

➡️ Number of Profile Views per 90 days over 100.

➡️ Number of Post Impressions over 1000.

➡️ Number of Search Appearances in seven days over 50, which should be roughly half the number of Profile views per 90 days.

➡️ There’s also, if you click on more analytics, you’ll see the Weekly Sharing Tracker which monitors your posts and comments. So that starts every Monday, you want it to be over three.

➡️ And then if you go back to your Profile and scroll down to Skills, you want at least 20 endorsements for your top two Skills

➡️ And scroll down to Recommendations and you want at least six, both given and received.

More in my book.

From ‘LinkedIn for me’ book

Today’s Date: __/__/__ (updated for 2026)

1. Number of Connections – people you are connected to. (Maximum of 30,000, Minimum 60+, Over time 500+)

Number_____

2. Number of Followers – people who follow your content, may or may not be connected to you. (Maximum unlimited, suggest you aim for more Followers than Connections as a significantly higher number of Followers suggests you could be a thought leader or influencer).

3. Profile Views last 90 days – This reflects the number of people who have actually looked at some or all of your LinkedIn Profile. I like to click on this link and see who has looked at me (I call this ‘reverse stalking’). I find it very informative and it is my favourite thing to do on LinkedIn because it tells me whether or not my LinkedIn Profile is attracting the people who can benefit from my offerings. If I recognize people who have contacted me, I am super excited that they have checked me out beforehand. Likewise, if my clients look at me after our appointment, I am optimistic that they are completing their follow up tasks. In your case, these people could all be classified as warm leads and may be worth contacting directly.
(Aim for 100+ per 90 days and more over time)

4. Views of your Posts or Articles – this will vary every time you publish a Post or Article on LinkedIn. Securing 1,000+ views for
a Post and 100+ views for an Article within the first few days of publication is a very good starting point. However, this statistic will depend on the quality of the item and the engagement that occurs during that time. It is a good idea to create content that has a high dwell time which means that people stop scrolling and keep looking at your content. The more interesting and engaging the content, the better!

Number_____

5. Search Appearances last 7 days – this helps you understand if your LinkedIn Profile is sourcing its own LinkedIn search traffic, without you being popular for a particular Post, job application or other publicity (which would show as a high number of Profile Viewers but not necessarily a high number of Search Appearances).
(Aim for 50+ per 7 days and more over time)

6. Weekly Sharing Tracker – this re-starts every Monday and is designed to measure how you engage on LinkedIn and if you are being a ‘good’ LinkedIn Member (Aim for 3+ per 7 days and best if you do it at the beginning of the week – Monday)

7. Number of Featured Skills and Endorsements – you can have up to 50+ Skills listed on your LinkedIn Profile. Aim to have at least 20 votes for each of the top two ‘pinned’ skills and ensure that the top three are most related to the type of career or business you are seeking.

8. Number of Recommendations – you can both give and receive Recommendations to and from your Connections. I encourage you to have at least six that you have given and six that you have received.
