Never Enough Poem

Never Enough Poem By Sue Ellson

Never Enough Poem

By Sue Ellson

You strive to collect
Your favourite stuff
But when you have it
Do you say enough?

You increase your wealth
In any way possible
But if you lose your health
Was it worth the trouble?

You plot and scheme
To receive applause
But how do you cope
Behind silent doors?

You feast and enjoy
Food and drink to excess
But how do you feel later
Is it more or less?

Could you find a way
To truly be fulfilled
With less than enough
And still be thrilled?

Because if enough
Is never enough
Life can become
Jaded and rough

Pause and reflect
On everything wonderful
For then you will learn
How to be grateful

You may even find
You have something to share
And then enough
Will never be rare

I recently met a financial advisor that told me that some of his clients have significant financial resources but still don’t feel as if they have enough.

I was genuinely surprised and wondered if I truly valued what I have right now.

Of course most people will tell you that the most valuable thing you can have is your health. I am extremely fortunate in that department because it has always been a top priority of mine as I want to be fully able to provide support to my children, family, friends, clients and community.

But I also know that I have strived for certain goals, achieved them and still felt that it was ‘not enough.’ So I guess what I am trying to say is that we should all pause every so often and reflect on what we do have in our lives and be humbly grateful. With love, Sue Ellson 🙂
