LFM003 Five Must Do’s
This content is in addition to the content of the ‘LinkedIn for me and my career or business’ ⭐ book.
It is so good to get in some quick wins…
And these are my five must do essentials that I always get through, even if I only have 15 minutes with someone.
- Edit your Public Profile URL
– if you haven’t already done this, completing this task will help you in various ways
a. look much better when you re-use your URL on your resume, email signature, business card etc.
b. optimize your name in online search results
c. lock it in so that no-one else can use it - Make sure your Profile Photo is a good one
– ideally, the top of your head will be at the top of the circle, your eyes will be on the one-third line, you will have a high neck garment on to frame your face, you will be wearing your hair and clothing in line with your future ambitions and your background will either be contextual (related to your future) or neutral and non-distracting - Ensure your LinkedIn Headline conveys your value
– every LinkedIn specialist will have their own recommended Headline formula and mine includes
a. a two to four word label (this will show in the Newsfeed and in Search Results and is your personal snapshot reminder to help people remember what you do).
b. a list of keywords that you would like to be found for, in priority order, separated by commas and without duplicates
c. something about you or your interests and can be a word and/or an emoji - Connect with everyone you meet personally and professionally
– you can easily do this via the LinkedIn App on your mobile device using the scan code feature
– you can also do it manually via LinkedIn whenever you meet someone via a message, email, phone call, meeting, event registration list etc
At the end of the day, your network = your net worth – so building a network and keeping your relationship alive over the long term (by engaging online, sharing content or reaching out directly) will ensure that you can always be found or ask for help - Demonstrate you are still accessible by selected activity
– if you are logged on, scrolling through the Newsfeed, checking your account, engaging with reactions, comments and shares, publishing posts, articles or newsletters, then the algorithm will detect that you are still active and accessible. You could do this as infrequently as once a month. Ideally, I would recommend once a week.
