The Quartet Journal is an online journal of poems written by women over the age of 50 partly supported by the Delaware Division of the Arts and is based in the USA. Submissions are accepted on a quarterly basis for three editions per year —Winter, Spring/Summer and Fall
Three Poems Submitted – ‘Cognitive Fusion‘
A 20 line poem about our mind and body feeling fused together but realising that we can heal and be real.
‘Not Yet‘
A 20 line poem about not doing something yet but despite that, the possibility of doing it in the future.
‘Universal Love‘
A 28 line poem about universal love being present without any requirement and always accessible.

The Minds Shine Bright Places Writing Competition is for poetry, micro or flash fiction or a short story about the places where we live, the places we love, the places we leave

A 48 line poem that reflects on my own journey of moving from Adelaide to Melbourne and how it has helped me become who I am today.
Entered one poem.
Long and Short List Winners will be announced in November 2025. All winning and commended entries will be published in the Minds Shine Bright Places anthology

2025 The Kathryn Purnell Poetry Prize is for a poem of no more than 50 lines and is a biennial award is named in honour of a much-loved member of The Society of Women Writers Victoria
Poem Submitted – ‘Hunger‘
A 24 line poem that suggests I would like to stay ‘hungry’ in life so that I continue to be grateful for what I have but also keep striving to do more.

2025 Boroondara Literary Awards supported by the Rotary Club of Balwyn
Open Short Story Category – 1,523 word Short Story called ‘Lifting Life’ – a first person story about changing from being a human to being a lift (elevator) for a month. Included a reflection on 10 lifts that helped me decide what type of lift I would like to be, where I would be located and who would be travelling in it with me.
